SHOT OF THE WEEK

I was blessed to be on the exclusive invitation only birthday event of the year, when Ms. Asha turned one year old.  It was a bit rough coaxing her from a nap she seemed quite attached to at the time; but once the shutters began snapping and the gifts started flowing she was good for the going.  This shot was taken post-cupcake-massacre.  Armed with only that tiny switchblade that you see seated unassumingly in her little clucker... let's just say that cupcake didn't have a chance.  The expression that you see here is post-cupcake victory glee.

RANDOM SHOT

One spring day after work, I decided to go down to the Churchill Downs for a shoot.   I had gotten a 100-400mm lens and wanted to take advantage of it as much as possible, for I knew I probably wouldn't have it for long.  It was amazing!  I had been down to Churchill Downs before, but had never been out on the track where the races are held.  I found the buildings and the landscape to be eloquently constructed, and the earth covering the track to be supple and rich.  Among all of these wonders, the most wonderful and refreshing things to see was how much the trainers, jockeys and other staff loved and took pride in their work.
